  • Refresh PT delivers in‑home physical therapy as well as Movement & Strength Coaching. • You can call/text (650) 275-2923 or send us an email at Info@RefreshPhysicalTherapy.com. You can also contact us here. We will schedule a brief introductory call to answer your questions and discuss your needs. At that time, we will schedule your initial appointment.

  • Movement & Strength Coaching services never require a referral.

For physical therapy, not at first. California is a Direct Access state for physical therapy, which means patients are allowed to seek evaluation and treatment from a licensed physical therapist without a prescription or referral from a physician. You can see a licensed physical therapist for 45 days or 12 visits (whichever comes first). You can continue receiving physical therapy after that point, however, you will need a referral from your provider. If you plan on seeking reimbursement from insurance, your insurance provider may require a physician’s referral. If at any time during your care, your physical therapist has concerns about your progress, they will let you know and will communicate with your medical provider.

  • No. We have chosen this model of care because we believe it allows for a higher standard of care unrestricted by insurance requirements.

We are happy to provide a detailed receipt that allows you to apply your payment to flexible spending accounts or toward an out-of-network deductible.

  • Intake forms will be sent to you via email through our secure patient portal at Simple Practice prior to your first visit.

Another great way to prepare is to bring questions so we can discuss them in person.

  • Your initial PT evaluation is a time when we gather pertinent information. We will have a conversation to learn more about what brings you to physical therapy. We will perform a full examination including measurements of your range of motion, strength, flexibility, joint mobility, movement quality, and more. We will develop a plan together that is realistic and sustainable. Education is key and that is why we will sit down to explain your results, teach relevant anatomy, and answer questions. You will have exercises to get started on too. You should leave with a clear understanding of the root cause of your issue and the overall plan for your recovery.

With Movement & Strength Coaching, the 1st session will include a full-body assessment, discussion of past history, and goal setting.

  • All sessions are a full 60 minutes. You will be one-on-one with the same doctor of physical therapy specialized in treating you for the full duration of your visit, every single time.

  • For PT, the number of sessions required will depend on the severity of your condition and how long you’ve been dealing with it.  A typical course of orthopedic physical therapy lasts about 5-8 sessions, coming 1x/week for treatment. Some patients may require less therapy and some may require more.  After your initial evaluation, you and your therapist will discuss a treatment plan which will include frequency and the anticipated number of visits.

  • Wear clothing that you can move freely in and that allows your therapist to access the injured area. Gym clothing is usually best.
